If there's one thing we've been learning about our favorite automaker as of late here at Bend Honda, it's that they sure take pleasure in making our lives easier. Whether it's saving us money at the pump in our 2013 Honda Fit EV models or letting our cars do the driving for us, the good news just never seems to end. Well now that they've established their commitment to improving the way we drive, they're turning their focus to improving the places we reside.

In collaboration with the eco-friendly wizards at the University of California, Davis, the engineers at Honda recently unveiled their maiden voyage into the world of "zero net energy" homes.

For those who haven't heard of them, houses like the Honda Smart Home are designed so that they'll actually produce more energy than they'd consume. Give energy back to your neighbors and slash your utility bills down to nonexistence? Talk about a win-win situation.

Well in addition to the high-efficiency HVAC system, low-energy lighting system and Honda's Energy Management System that balances the home's solar power and grid power usage so you don't have to, it also has a solar-powered garage that's specifically designed for charging your EV without dipping into grid power. Oh yes, the perks are plentiful with the Honda Smart Home.

Unfortunately, it's probably going to be a while before these domiciles become commonplace in the Bend, OR area, but until then, feel free to visit the experts in our car parts department to learn more about the savings that our EVs provide. After all, your life can always afford to be a little bit easier.
