Winter weather can wreak havoc on your vehicle and make the roadways dangerous. Rain and snow can easily freeze when the temperatures drop. Black ice is particularly dangerous because it blends in with the asphalt and can be hard to see. At Bend Honda, we want you to be safe while driving in Bend, OR during bad weather.

You can prevent your vehicle from sliding on ice by ensuring the tires are in good condition. You also want to make sure you slow down when the roads are icy and give yourself plenty of time to stop. If you are sliding on ice, you should not slam on the brakes. This will lock them up and make the car slide more.

You can also turn into the slide to help straighten the car. If the rear of your car is sliding to the right, you would want to turn the wheel to the right slightly. As the car straightens up, straighten your wheel as well. You will need to do this slowly and carefully.
