Now that spring has finally sprung in beautiful Bend, OR, we here at Bend Honda are more than grateful to be spending so much outdoor time with our new and used cars. Whether it's going for a test drive or just ogling at them on the lot for hours on end, it's amazing how much faster time flies once winter ends. And with the 2013 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb just around the corner, we can't help but be envious of our favorite automaker.
If this is all coming as news, the Pikes Peak Climb is an annual race that takes place on the said mountain in Colorado Springs, CO. This year isn't the first time Honda has participated, and not only will they be entering 10 of their vehicles into nine different racing events, but it's the first time Honda will serve as a corporate sponsor for the iconic event.
As to why they're pulling out all the stops this year, the answer isn't all that surprising.
"Pikes Peak presents us with a unique opportunity to showcase Honda's diverse product lineup and to energize Honda fans around the world as we work to further strengthen Honda's presence in racing at all levels," says Mike Accavitti, Senior Vice President of Automotive Operations at American Honda. "Our associates will be working hard between now and Race Day to prepare this diverse field of race vehicles and showcase the Honda racing spirit."1
So if you won't be able to make it to the big race on June 30, then feel free to settle for a test drive in some of the vehicles that'll be there, like the 2013 Honda CR-Z and the 2013 Honda Fit EV. Just don't go crazy out there, okay?
